has any one used this in ther fresh water tanks and does it help ?

used to use it, but now i dont and i havent noticed a difference. maybe if i had to treat a fish for illness, id add some but meh....im sure there are fish its really bad for. like SH and types of bottomfeeders.

I use the recommended dosage when I first set up or when I have a loss or disease of any kind. But not when I do water changes. From what I've read, adding salt helps, but not keeping salt all the time.

I use it to clean often.

Recently I re-set up my eclipse hex 5 using old gravel, a piece of malaysian driftwood, and an old sponge filter. I added food and stress-zyme to cycle the tank. Bang! Fungus. Lots of it. I salted the hell out of the tank and changed the water a few times to get it out and now it's butters again.

Salt has a wide variety of beneficial properties, and I highly reccomend it for a number of situations. I don't reccomend constant use however, as the fish will become dependant on the higher salinity levels.

thank for the help i just added a few table spoons in both tanks seems that every one is fine including both shrimp groups in both tanks :screwy:

I use it in most tanks at a rate of 1 tbsp/5 gallons

Yep, same here. They seem to like it.

My goldfish actually eat it as I'm pouring it out. lol The snail usually isn't too happy when he sees the salt carton come out.

But anyways, I use it all the time to help with the slimecoat and when treating illness. Plus I have a violet goby in there so I put some in to make him happy.
