hi i was wondering is Caribsea torpedo beach sand heavy enough so it will get sucked inside the canister? and do it contain silca? i dont want a diatom outbreak

so thats mean its gong to have diatom out break right? cuz last time i brought pool filter sand they are made with silca i have diatom out break.

It’s inert so it shouldn’t directly affecting ur water hence algae. However there’s silica in water. So to defeat that you’d need RO water. Also need to remove phosphates.

If you have a light colored sand it's pretty much guaranteed to contain silica. If it's white, it's pretty much guaranteed to contain calcium. Silica sand isn't going to cause diatoms if other conditions in your tank don't also encourage it.
