I will be getting another aquarium soon and i was thinking of possibly trying sand for a bottom. I have found only two kinds a Black beauty which is a Slag abrasive. and there was another type available that was of glass peices ?? both for sand blasting. so anyhow i have quite a few 50 lb bags of this Black beauty, didnt cost me anything so i was wondering if its okay for use and if so how would i go about it the best way? For better reference bags are labeled Ensio Resources Inc. Patriot Blast Slag abrasive. Thank you.

I don't know anything about it, but the name alone would steer me away. I would be afraid it would scratch the tank whether it be glass or acrylic. I don't use sand right now but on my next set up I am planning on it. I have seen several threads on here about members using pool sand. That is what I am leaning towards.

:iagree: but if your on about how to prepare it or what?

wash it in a bucket by putting about 1-2pints of the sand in the bucket and then put the bucket under the tap stiring the sand around with the tap on then empty the water out and do again to the same batch of sand until the water your rinsing in is crystal.

aight... thank you all. had my doubts about it having never tried sand. so i figure ill stick with aquarium gravel i want some black gravel anyways.
