I got an offer the was lead though a mutral friend. To Service an office aquarium for a gentalment who is about 20miles out of my home town.

Now when I spoke to the guy he had dumbed all this money and got ripped off by the LFS ( bad ).

In 6weeks about 70$ in fish fliped.
At first he just wanted to talk with me to see if I could help him out. So I went and I saw about a 1000 things wrong and the water was just so out of wack. I think its the location's water.

So I made a date that I can and tore down his tank, Re set it up, I added pre balanced and cycled water. I also brought rock and sand/gravel and floss from my cycled tanks to run in his for a week.

I went there today, just to check it out and the tank is GREAT. So I was happy and he seemed happy as well.

Then offered to pay me to continue the up keep.
He said he like me come out every 2weeks and on the off weeks he would do just a water change.

So i told him if I did this, It would be $2.00 per gallon and he would still have to pay for all supplies and/or media used.

Now its a 46gallon tank, so its not really that big, but still for the time and labor.
$46 a visit I thought was fair. Now in my area there is no one who does this. So if i stared doing it as a part time thing I probly make OK money. And compaired to the LFS who are just way over priced I thought it was fair....

He said he thought $75 per month was more far the $92.
Now i know he is planing a 90 g at home.

and may ask to do that as well but still, I think that $2.oo a gallon up to 150gallons would be fair.

what do you guys think. for a full service every 2weeks?
Im over pricing or is he cutting me short?

people around me charge 1$ per gallon till 100 than .50 from there up but than they charge like 20 for trasportation and like 25 for all normal suplies(papertowels + simple things like buckets and gravel vacs) than howevr much it costs for filter cartridges and watevr is left. To get a 100-150gal maintained it will cost 230-280

Around me they average around 60.00 an hour + supplies and mileage.

KDCarey.... hUmmmm, That whould be like 2$ per gallon then. 125g @ 2 = 250

Now is that per visit, because ( and I dont think I mentioned) but my ideal of 2$ per gallon cost whould of been for a months at the 2 visits? so that would make it $12per visit or 1 per gallon per visit.

I honestly thinkn thats fair, doing ot hourly also. but i think in my area $65 would be about right.

thanks for the feed back.

My LFS guy is going to clean my 130g once a week this summer (when I'm not around) for $25.

I forget how much it was for the 55g... maybe $16-18? He does an awesome job with water changes, cleaning the glass, etc. But that is it, I don't get him to set my tank up in anyway, just do water changes when I'm gone.

yeah........Canadian dollars are worth more tha US dollars :ROFL::(:(:(:(

the guy here does $1 per gallon and uses only RO water and there is a minimum of $75 bucks so its not a waste of his time... so if you have a 150 gallon tank and you do a 50% change then its 75 bucks so its worth it... but anything smaller then a 150 gallon tank isnt worth it.... o and plus supplies
