I am planning to get a 40 breeder tank as a kamfa growout tank, I live on 3rd floor and can't get anything more than this for now, I would probably move when I need more space for the flowerhorn. My planned setup is like this

1. blue vinyl background
2. Tiles on bottom (I think two of these would fit perefectly, they look so nice, could have made good background as well) https://www.homedepot.com/p/Merola-...nd-Wall-Tile-18-sq-ft-case-FAZ18LYC/202898743
3. I am planning 'no plants'. I have 2 aquariums with plants already. What light should I get? I thiought about stingray as I love it on my 10 gallon but I think since they are for plants, they will add too much algae.
4. Aquaclear 70 as a filter
5. A bristlenose pleco

Planning to get fish in December, will cycle using media from other tanks.

If I were you I would not get anything that will outgrow the 40g breeder tank for now.

you say you would probably move. Fish grow fast. Some fish won’t grow as fast or as big as they potentially could be if grown out in a smaller tank bc of the less than ideal water Conditions. Knowing that you do not have a proper tank size and are unable to upgrade at this location I say wait to purchase your new tank and FH when you completed your move.

I would recommend blue acaras for your 40g breeder.

?‍♀️

I was planning to move out of my rental 5 years ago...I’m still here...just saying plans Can change and it’s always best to have proper accommodations for the fish you want to keep before keeping it. It can avoid the future post “my fish out grew it’s tank, what do I do with my fish now” “help!!! My fish is ill”

and I’m not trying to be all negative. Just Two months isn’t that long to wait really.
