i go to the occasional reptile expo here in beautiful sunny southern california and got to wondering if there are ever fish/aquarium expo's that are as large as some of the reptile expo's that i go to.

i know that the transportation and setup would be tedious and quite possibly expensive to show fish and aquarium setups. combine that with the potential for possible death with the new setups and i can see why they wouldn't happen that often.

so, anyone ever heard of anything here in socal or any major shows in general?

thanks in advance.

Many of the major exhibits are held overseas in Europe and Asia.. The US hosts a few of them, most of them are small gathering put togethor by 'local aquarium clubs', but I had noticed that the national cichlid convention (or whatever it's called) was a pretty major deal last year. They advertised in the magazines, and people from all over the country attended. As far as something going on in SoCal, you will just have to keep your eyes peeled and ask around at LFS or Aquarium Clubs.

MCA (MidWest Cichlid Association) is being held in Des Moines, IA this year (first time ever to be held period) May 5 thru 7.

ACA (American Cichlid Association) is being held in Chicago, IL this year in July.

Those are two of the main ones, there are tons more, there is a killifish, livebearers...oy...the list goes on.

The ACA convention is the motherload of cichlid events in the USA. Many of the people who attend drag several tanks into their hotel rooms and stock with fish to sell and show in the competitions.

I think we should try to represent MFK in the ACA this year.. Andre will likely attend, but maybe MFK can put togethor a booth with XoticAquatix and we can distribute fish, give out free MFK bracelets/stickers, and promote MFK!!

i doubt there are any in socal. you might be able to find some of those family pet fairs in costa mesa. you can check out the dates on kingsnake.com and click on events!! gluck bro
