hey guys, haven't been on in a while, but i'm going to be picking up a new tank thursday and don't have a stand or anything to put it on. wondering what you guys might have for suggestions. don't have a helluva lot of money right now so i'm looking for a sort of cheap fix for now [evenutally i'll build a custom cabinet for it, but not for some time]. this is the tank:

dimensions are 30.5 x 21 x 18. those measurements equal to about 50 gallons for rectangular so i'm guessing perhaps 40 - 45g. i'm looking at this right now:

looks pretty sturdy but i don't know. opinions? i'm just looking for some input right now... guess this might be a pointless thread lol

also, i'm considering blacking out the back three panels of the tank. i bet you're all gonna say do it but i figure i'll see anyway.

the stand is made for a TV.. looks to be a big one and appears sturdy from the pics.. i'd say for for it for the temporary!

Also im game for the blacking out the back if you post pics when its set up!

lol yeah i could definitely post pics. will have white sand and lots of plants as well so it should look nice [community tank, not of huge interest around here lol]. and yeah, i'm thinking that stand looks pretty big and sturdy [4 feet long, tank is 31 inches long] and has supports in the center. looks pretty beefy to me, thick boards, looks older so should be somewhat nicer wood than the cheap particle board that everything is made out of these days, too. i'll definitely look at it before i make a commitment to buying it of course

picked up my tank today.. it's beautiful, i love it. unfortunately i'm having a hard time finding something to put it on [the people with the last thing haven't emailed me back..], and i can't start putting it together until i've got a "stand" for it... urg..

I used cinder blocks for years on my 55 gallon. Use playing cards to level out the cinder block stand, works quite well.
