Is a 40gallon tank strong enough to withstand the fast strike of a 6inch turtle's beak?
He corners feeder fish in the corner, and BANG right on the glass.
will it not crack or break?

The tank is from ALL GLASS AQUARIUMS

Maybe not if its a snapper, but I have a RES and a Yellow bellied slider and they used to smack the side of the tank all the time. You should be fine

I dont think it would if its an RES, my RES pushes food into the corner to eat it, and he hits the side pretty hard and nothing has happened.

yeah exactly what my mud turtle does..i'll stop worrying then.

how big is your tank though..or the thickness?

Yeah I doubt you'd ever have to worry about your mud turtle breaking anything.

haha o.k.; but there is one exception..he broke my skin yesterday..took a nice chunk off the tip of my finger, it's opened up now..

i'm going to the hospital in a few days to get check for salmonella

oh, do you think he can scratch the walls of the tank? he's trying to escape and his nails are always hitting the tank.

definately dont think mub turtle could do damage to a 4ogal glass tank even if its sould purpose was to break it...

His nails aren't nearly as hard as the glass, so you don't have anything to worry about. You also probably don't have to worry about salmonella, but keep an eye out for local infection.

thanks.

oh so glass scartches if something harder than touches the glass?
so i should be careful when i move around the artificial rocks huh?
