My aquarium keeps getting cloudy and was wondering if anyone knew why. It's a 210 gallon. It's filtered by an fx5, an xp4, a hydro V connected to a 170 gph powerhead, 2 aquaclear 110s, and a green killing machine uv filter. Right now I have 2 oscars-8 and 9 inches, 2 green terrors-3 inches, 2 spotted Raphael catfish-3 inches, 1 flowerhorn-5 inches, 2 midas-4 inches, 2 red devils-4 inches, 2 pacus-7 & 8 inches, 1 convict-5 inches, 1 green texas-3 inches, 1 green sunfish-5 inches, a jack dempsey-5 inches, and 1 pleco-7 inches. I know all those fish won't work together in the tank long term, so I'm going to move some around to other tanks. Right now I don't think they'd be making too much bioload for my filtration to handle and causing the cloudy water. I do about a 50 percent water change every Saturday. The water looks a lot clearer right after the water change and for a few days. I hav e play sand for substrate. I have stirred the sand up after a water change before to see if that's the problem, but it doesn't seem to cloud the water up. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also if someone has an opinion on which fish I should keep in the 210 I'd like to get your idea. I also have a jag that's only about 2 inches right now I'd like to put in there, so take that into consideration. Thanks.

Play sand is fine, I'd say ur bio is too much for canisters and hob filters. Get a good size sump and the water should be better, but nothing will help your overstocKing which is pretty bad IMO and they will all get much bigger and you will have some serious aggression in there soon

I wasn't sure if there would be too much bio considering their size. I know I'm way overstocked or on my way there as they get bigger that's why I said I was going to move some of them out of there eventually. The last I had checked the parameters a few weeks ago theynwere ok and the fish all seems healthy and have really good color. I figured if the bio was too much that they would be looking a lot worse. Thanks though. I had been considering a sump to go along with the fx5.

Plenty of fitration, my opinion.

I don`t agree, but again, just my opinion.

You didn`t mention how long your tank has been running.
Were all those filters runnig from tank startup?
Was your water clear and then you did something new?
Milky clouding is a classic sign of bacterial activity.
What`s you cleaning routine for both tank and filters?
What does your test kit show?

Tanks has been running for 4 months. Fx5 and xp4 have been there from the start. I changed from gravel to sand about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I guess that might be why. I was thinking it was farther back than that. The hydro V was added a week after the gravel was removed. I added the aquaclears 3.5 weeks ago. The canisters haven't been cleaned for about 5 weeks now. I rinsed the sponge filter in aquarium water 2 weeks ago when I did the water change. The aqua clears haven't been cleaned. I change 50 percent water every week. Three weeks ago the parameters were good, but I haven't checked them since. I'm out of town right now so I can't check again currently. I guess know that I actually looked at the calendar I think it's just going through a cycle/mini cycle.

It was the gravel change.
You had quite allot your BB in that gravel.
You might consider turning the UV off while your tank stabilizes.

Ok thanks. That's what I thought after I realized how recently it was when I changed to sand. For some reason I was thinking it was a lot longer back than that. Does anyone have a suggestions on which fish I could, should keep together in that tank? I'd like to keep the 2 oscars and the jag I have in there and then maybe the red devil, midas, and flowerhorn. I don't know if that'd be too much though as far as aggresion goes. Maybe it's not even that bad if you think I could keep those plus more I wouldn't mind that either. Thanks for all the advice.
