Aquarium wood

Just went through the same thing. I am sure there are better ways. I have plants on the way, Java fern, to cover up the zip ties. Clear ones would of worked better.

Just give it time, it shouldn't take too long for it to sink, at least IME. Or I would go the fishing line route.

fishing line is a good option. Zip ties were easy and right in my garage. Plants will cover all the mess. Fish line is ur best option for transparency tho.

I use a piece of acrylic and screw the wood to it from underneath. If you have enough substrate, the weight of it on top the acrylic will hold it down. SIze of the piece acrylic depends on how big the wood is.

I use a nice piece of slate, drill a hole in it and screw the wood to it. Make sure to use stainless steel screws. Can't even see the slate cause of my substrate.

I place rocks on it. Takes a good few months before it won't float.
