Aquaruc plant soil

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've always used eco-complete. It DOES help i've experimented in a 10 gallon putting the same plants on each side one side eco-complete and one side standard gravel and the plants with the eco-complete did much better. I don't have a picture of that tank.

Also i've found that adding flourite works although it's pretty darn expensive.

yea use what you posted up it works real good and compared to others it is dirt cheap!

Well I'm new to planted tanks so take my advice with a large grain of salt :D but I know I read somewhere that you as you go up your substrate should increase in particle size. The idea being that if you top a larger particle size (such as the Schultz Aquatic Soil) with a smaller particle size (sand), you could eventually end up with harmful bacteria populating and unable to escape.

I just used the Schultz Aquatic Soil (about $7 for a bag at Home Depot) and topped it with smooth river pebbles, so I'll post back with how it does!

you know its made quite a big difference....especially the taller plants.....the taller ones are now getting taller and the smaller ones are expanding quite well....i've noticed that i dont have to add as much fertilizer.....i used to have to do that once a week....now i only do it about once every two weeks...and noticeable algae growth has gone down......so for me its worked quite well...plants are happier and greener :nilly:
