i was just wondering what type of aquascaping should be done for rays. should the bottom be left bare to give them plenty of room or do they need some hiding places or such.

i am thinking when i get a my 300 :D i am going to put an aro and a couple of rays in it. my plans are to use the thinnest slate i can find or something such as for a backer on the tank then make slate shelves attached to the back. the only thing is i think that much slate might be a little too heavy.

thanks

non- silica sand is a good substrate, be carefull with rocks or driftwood with sharp edges, will harm rays disc, rays often hide by burying themselves in the sand so you don´t need anything else as a hideout.

thanks for the info. well i guess slate would out of question then since it can have some sharp edges.

 Here is a pic of my 120gal 60x18 foot print......Will have about the same set up with 2 large peaces of holey rock :headbang2

I got one 72lb peace and 40lbs of black sand,a nd some few 26" tall plants.....

well bare bottom for me as you can see....easier to keep clean...same goes for my indoor pond....

Is this a Yepezi????

give your rays a substrate its the least you can do i wouldnt bother with any rocks or wood the rays will just move them around with the chance of craking the tank
