Hi guys, I was wondering if it would be ok to use a cow skull in my tank. The guy at the lfs said it would be fine but it looks like he just found it outside and cleaned it up. Would it deteriote and leach organics into the water? Any thoughts?

Should be fine; give it a good bleach and let it soak in fresh water for a few days.
Not sure why you'd want to put a cow skull in an aquarium but that's not for me to judge!

Well turns out it did deteriorate. After a few weeks when I was doing regular maintenance I removed it to clean and parts broke off. Not sure if they were just the softer bits but now I'm worried if its leaching. My fish love it fyi haha, my big male auratus claimed it as his castle.

Interesting...sorry guess I was wrong. Not to sure about the leaching. Good thing your fish love it though!
