I have a 96" long x 24" tall tank that I would like to get an Aquaterra background for. Given the length, it seems the Slimline is my only option so as to get the proper length and not sacrifice much tank space. what I would like is to also get a few modules to attach and 'break up' the general 'flatness', especially at the background substrate meeting line.

However, I also like the Tanganyika background, but it is not made in the size I need. If I purchase two 48x24, can they be installed side by side with them merging fluidly?

Thoughts? Any advice, experience is greatly appreciated.

Why not also check out http://www.designsbynature.net/products-page/slimline-bgs/

They have had a ton of great reviews from members here.
IMO, they are nowhere near as nice as AT backgrounds.

Hey Laz on your question, ask Egon. He used that background and had to piece it together for his 36" tall tank. He might be able to let you know if you could piece them side by side.

I see you've been in his thread :) This is the tank I was talking about. I'm sure if he could make it work top to bottom, you could make it work side to side.

Not a fan of the Design by nature backgrounds. They look 'toy like' if that makes sense. Defeats the natural look I want, and ironically they are going for. Thats just my opinion though. I saw Egons thread, and he did a great job. My big concern if I go with the Tanganyikan background is that side by side, they'd be merged right at the middle of the aquarium. Given its the most viewable area, I dont want the merge to be obvious.

Aquaterra Guys. I appreciate the DBN suggestions, but I've compared, and Aquaterra is my choice.

Well, besides you choosing an inferior product (;)), I'm sure you could make it work.

Your main issue is going to be lining them up. If you have to take any height off for whatever reason you have to be sure they still line up exact. What are the braces like in your tank?
