Instead of chucking my smaller setup, I think I might turn it into an aquatic amphibian habitat. The question is, what would be a good choice?

I have a 20g long, and I want to fill it half full with water and use a decorative Reptofilter for decoration. Any suggestions on what to stock?

Thank you!

What kind of temps do you get in your house? If it stays cool, you could try a small newt, such as a Cynops or Notophthalmus species, or a dwarf siren. If it gets warmer (75 or higher), stick with frogs.

My house is around 70 in the winter and up to 85 in the summer (I live in Florida). There's no way to keep it cool in the summer.

I always thought mudskippers were cool (although a fish)
however I am pretty sure they need more constant temps, as well as being brackish

Ah, sallies are out then. There are some semiaquatic frogs that would work, like fire-bellied toads. Crabs are another option.

how about a stinkpot turtle?
or musk turtle?
It would be good to eventually upgrade to something bigger than a 20L, but it could work for a young musk for a while. I currently have a 2.5" stinkpot in my 20L with plans to renovate my 65 gallon for him in the next few months.

Blue tailed firebellies do well in most homes, good eaters and easy breeders if you adhere to temp. requirements. Chinese firebellies like it cooler but also fare well with most people.
Chillers enable you to keep a wider variety of newts, or salamanders unless you desire an aquatic setup.

Penninsula newts do well in warm weather and you can find them all over FL and they only get 4" max. Easy to care for too.
