Aquatic or Semi-aquatic Herps

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A few years back there was a fairly large availability of tentacled snakes (Erpeton tentaculatum). This is an aquatic species. Another aquatic species occassionally found in the hobby is the elephant trunk snake (Acrochordus javanicus).

Ditto on those snakes, and I'll add watersnakes, as long as they do have a basking area, as well as amphiumas, some newts/salamanders, of course many frogs, and a few toads, and you spelled Axolotl correctly !
You may need to check your local laws though, since some amphibians are protected, or regulated. There's also water dragons, and a skink or two.

The water dragon lizards are way cute & get funny personalities. Water snakes could easily get out of a tank if its not totally closed off. Personally I like the pacman frog, even tho it's not so much aquatic.

Yesterday I saw some giant Japanese Salamander juvies for sale at the LFS... Cute fellas they were but they get to 5ft+, read they are like bichirs... only come on top to breathe...

you cant even touch them without a scientist using you as his assistant much less buy them.

I highly doubt there legit Japanese giants, otherwise that store will get nailed hard, anyways semi aquatic lizards caiman lizards ( rather large) and Chinese crocodile lizards are awesome and the latter been on my wants list since i saw them in reptiles magazine over 10 years ago.

Stupid INDIAN law... I didn't even bother asking what was it priced at... If I pass by anytime I will get some pics may be experts here can ID them...
