Yep, that's me ! Ask anyone over on the AC forums. Can't take a picture to save his life ! That's why I'm here. Been keeping fish for 2+ years, but only seriously since Jan. I'm relatively new to the digital camera thing, having got my first in Dec. '06. I have a Canon SD700IS digital (I can't take a decent fish picture to save my life), and a Canon EOS Elan7N SLR, that I got tired of carrying around (mostly at Disney), so that was the reason for my switch to digital. So I'm hoping to learn enuf here to at least look like I have a clue when I take and post pictures on line !! So, here's my first question. How hard is it (or isn't it) to put pictures on my computer from my SLR ? Can I even do such a thing ? Thanx. (Hope I can ask those question here !)

First off, welcome to APF!

For digital:
You need to read the manual that came with the camera to tell you how to transfer files from the cam to the computer. Don't have the manual - search for one on the Internet. That manual is your best guide. If your computer has a card reader, it may be as simple as inserting the memory card from the camera and clicking a few mouse buttons. If not, you probably can transfer them through a USB cable.

For film:
You will have to scan either the negative, slide or print and convert it to a file (usually jpeg or tiff) that your computer can read. Some camera shops offer this service or you can buy a scanner and do it yourself.

Be sure to post a shot in the critique area so we can see where you need help! Couple of pointers and you'll be over on AC showing off!

Thanx. I have no trouble getting digital onto the net, and as of yet I have not gone back to my SLR. I was hoping I might get my digital to be nice enuf to me to allow me to use it. I have posted a couple of pictures over at AC forums, although embarrassingly so. I'll get a couple up here for the gang to critique for me. Thanx again.

Welcome to APF. We'll look forward to seeing your first post with photos.
