The African Goliath Tigerfish is infamous for it's ferocious maw. However, most people take for granted it's secondary weapon; an oversized, shark like cadual fin (tail) that enables this fish to thrive in the toughest of conditions.
In captivity, these gars do pretty well together as both species tend to be more mellow. The longnose gar however, easily gets to lengths of 24", making it the more difficult of the two to house. These fishes are housed in a 360gllon aquarium with a footprint of 6ft by 4ft by 2ft. The footprint was customized for the inhabitants (gars) of the tank.
