I got some plants for my tank using gravel to hold it down. Im new to aquarium plants wondering if just using gravel is alright for the plants. I got a fish in there. Got a freshwater nova light shining down on it. any tips for growing tank plants successfully?? Thanks

Visit http://www.azgardens.com/c-173-aquarium-secrets.aspx . Pretty much everything I know I got from this site. The main thing is enough (lots o') light, and then fertilizer. There are cheap ways to supplement CO2 if needed. (Plants that reach the surface won't need CO2.) Planted tanks are beautiful but getting the plants to thrive can be just as complex as fishkeeping. Good luck!! -- R-G

Well lets see pretty much all gravel works for plants the lighting is fine just make be just like the sun half the day light half night not to much u can go with 3/4 light but no more or the leaves or the plant its self might burn or leaves might die some tips are that plants if given enogh time will send out crawlers which then whenr eady sprout a duplicate from the main plant so make shure you have some room for that and for it to grow other then that plants take care of themselves yes you can by plant food also to help it along the way some plants are faster growers then others and some can be fragile while other hardy

Thanks for the great tip.

you probably made your research already but from what you're saying that you're not going "all in" with the whole plant keeping and won't be dosing ferts I suggest you shove some solid ferts ( "root tabs" ) into the gravel to boost their growth and meet their requirements.

ps. "smok" in my language means dragon :p

yes I been looking into using them root tabs. they are okay to use with fish in tank right? the places i have found online for root tabs does not say if its fish friendly or not..

haha thats bad *** what language do you speak
