Hey! I was wondering if there is such a thing as a purely aquatic turtle that requires no land at all. I have 4 ACF's and would love to have a little turtle to put in my tank. Can someone clue me in on this?

Do a site search with 'aquatic turtle'. This has come up numerous times. The short answers:

The Fly River turtle and matamata are the only completely non-basking turtles known in the hobby. Neither can be trusted to be housed with fish. FRTs are omnivorous and have been known (on MANY occassions) to harm or kill fish tankmates. Matamata turtles are 99% strict piscavores and can NOT be housed with fish.

Word up oddball........good info!!!!................I was young and dumb and the vendor told me that mud turturls are fully aquatic.....................needless to say it sunk like a rock and looked like a fat kid (unsucessfully) tring to get to the surface..........he was traded at the next reptille show............do your research bro...........good luck......

Not true. If it were true we'd find sea turtles in rivers. Anyway, all sea turtle species are protected by CITES appendix 1 and the Lacey Act.

Ok thanks. I heard about someone having on in some video. :screwy:

i posted pics of one in freshwater somewhere

Gator snappers have to be provided a basking platform. While they rarely use it, there are those that do.
true... i had over 100 last year... all like to ''bask'' once a day... when bigger then seem not to bask as much as when they are little
