About to order one.

Anybody know the media capacity of the can and/or the length of the downward part of the intake tube? Trying to plan what I need to get along with it.

Thanks! Heard great things about these filters and the price is right.

#1 Adding Pads and Sponges to the bottom basket and rinsing them as frequently
as possible. The purpose of Mechanical Filtration Media is to help collect
debris and organics into a central location for easy removal. If the Pads and
Sponges are not cleaned, the trapped debris and organics do not leave the
system.

#2 Chemical Filtration Media such as Activated Carbon to the
next basket. The purpose of Activated Carbon is to help keep aquarium water
clear and free from odor. A single 500G bag of Activated Carbon last you roughly
30 days.

#3 Since the CF500-UV has four media baskets we recommend adding
Biological Filtration Media to the two top baskets. Ceramic Rings are more
effective in a canister filter when compared to Bio-Balls. Each media basket
will hold up to 1000G of Ceramics Rings. If you are to fill two baskets with
Ceramic Rings you would need 2000G.

If no one else get it for you, I can measure the length of the intake tube when I get home tonight. I have it on my 90 gallon tank and I would say that the intake stops roughly 3-4" above my substrate.

How tall is your 90? and thanks!

See #3 for media capacity, all trays are of equal size if you chose to do 3 w/ bio.

Excellent. Thank you very much. Sorry if I skimmed over that, at work and can't be seen reading something like that manual for too long.

My 90 has the same footprint as a 75 gallon, just taller. Should be 24" tall.

The intake is 22" but can be adjusted for shallower tanks. Or just to be higher off the sand so it doesn't get sucked up. I got two on my tank and one sits an inch above my inch thick sand and the other sits about 8" off the sand

I just bought one and it came in yesterday. First off amazing filter my water is crystal clear! Now to the stuff you want. For media it just comes with the pads, no bio balls, carbon, or bio max rings. What I when I ordered my filter from amazon I ordered fluval biomax rings and fluval carbon with it. And I am going to go buy bio balls soon at petsmart. I only needed one box of the rings an one box of the carbon( which comes with three small bags of carbon). Trays from bott to top: tray 1 is the sponge filter pad and the white filter pad. Tray two is the white filter pad with carbon on top. Tray three is the white filter pad with bio max rings on top of it. And tray four is the white filter pad with the bio balls on top (note bio balls are optional). As or the plastics prices for the intake. They give you plenty. I have a standard 125 gal and I have like one or two extra prices so you are good. Hope this helps!
