Anyone have any experience with the aquatop AND XP3? Would like to know the how the flow rates compare with media, and which one does a better job. Im thinking of getting one of the Aquatops and either moving the XP3 from the 75 to the 46 or putting the aquatop on the 46 gallon directly.

Any input?

im not sure about the aquatop but the flow on the xp3 is junk.

Not sure if you knew that it was only rated at 350GPH max?

I have an XP2 and an XP3 and they both do an excellent job filtering, your obviously not going to get the flow out of them as you would an FX5 so if your looking for fast river flow then look elsewhere.

Also have never tried the Aquatop so no input there just wanted to give my 2 cents about the XP3.

This is perfect timing actually. I just made a video as I traded up from my RenaXP 3's to the Aquatop 500UV's. There really isen't a comparison. These filters don't leek, which my Rena's had on a few occasions. They also are 4 stage and put out alot more GPH. It doesn't seem like it, but thats because the hoses are 1/3 larger then the rena's and the output bar is longer. Distributes the flow/current much better. And last but not least, you have the UV sterilizer. My water has never been clearer.

XP3's ussually run between $179-$229 depending on the LFS. You can get 2 Aquatop 500UV's from Koienterprise for $238($119 each) with no shipping. Anthony is awsome and takes care of his customers.

:naughty:

I ordered them from him already, can't wait to get it. My water will be drinkable with this and my sump on my 46 gallon!

i personally owned both the Rena XP3, bought it for 70 bucks, used it for like 5months, and recently purchased the cf-500uv, the flow is higher on the aquatop, and even has more media trays :headbang2

I am thinking about getting the 500 for mechanical/as needed chemical filtration and running it pre-algae filter on my 60, I should have the algae fiter setup this weekend but I am just not sure if I should do the pre-mech filtering...

My xp3 has been running for two years with no issues on my 75g. I looked up the cf 500 and I noticed two others canisters , the 300 and the 400 , wich I think would be more comparable to the xp3. I understand that you have the xp3 but to compare the xp3 to the the cf 500 aint fair lol. Its gonna blow the xp3 away. And the flow on the xp3 aint junk , it gets the job done. Good luck with the cf 500.

Anyone else want to chime in on this? I'm thinking of replacing my three XP3s with 2 of the CF-500UV. For those that have the CF-500UV do you know what size the tubing is and what color the inlet and outlet are?
