A person got rid of his BGK since he was closing down his tank since he did not want to deal with fish anymore. So I took it and was curious is there anything special I need to feed him? I put pellets and frozen brine shrimp into the tank a few times now and have not seen him come out to eat. Should I be concerned or just give him a couple days to get used to my tank.

Probably new tank syndrome. Wait it out but would find out what it was given to eat by the previous owner, if able. May need to feed at night.

Give more time to adjust also would offer frozen blood worms over the brine shrimp.

I thought the previous owner said pellets, and that he could feed him by hand.

if that is the case it probably just need to settle in. You might try feeding nightcrawlers or tilapia. How big is he?

He said he is 9 inches. I did not measure him before I put him into my tank.
