If money wasnt an issue id say it might be useful in a rifle. What advantage does it give over 5.56 in rifle format to justify spending far more for the ammo? Now if money for ammo wasnt a issue id prefer the 4.6x30mm in sbr and 22 tcm in a pistol.

Iv always heard very low recoil and fast follow up shots for the 5.7 out of a pistol.

But you are more knowledable than I.
Advantage is in flat very high ballistics with a brutal wound profile.. Now again let me say your not going to get this with commercial ammo. Reloading is the way to go with this cartridge. (or somehow get your hands on Mil-spec) If you are looking to find value...Yeah... look elsewhere.. but for a refined cartridge for special purpose you reload what is best available in it's class. (Honestly I'd go for 5.45 before this but in this case materials are much more available at this time for five-seven)

Never been one of those people that just looks for what is cheap and use that. Even in my favorite cartridge 7.62x54r I do not have an issue spending 2 or 3 bucks to construct a good round with superior ballistics and hitting power over cheap surplus junk. There is a difference between "cheap plinking" and performance class ammunition. When you want something done right..... do it yourself. Reloading is really not difficult nor does it really cost much. In any case Precision made Reloaded ammo will out preform and outclass all surplus and in most cases commercial ammunition as it can be tailor made to fit both firearm and shooter.

I tested the FN pistol extensively with Commercial, Reload and Mil-spec ammo and did not like it at all. It had zero qualities above 7.62x25 (preferred pistol cartridge) in shooting. It does have better first shot hit characteristics and does not tend to just flat out go through everything. Follow up shots on a classic "two tap" was not as accurate as with the TT-33 or even a heavy CZ-52. Slide is heavy and the recoil springs light. Maybe if they would improve on this and Balance it better then it would preform better but the one I tested was awful without the extra weight of the silencer.. With the silencer though it was rather nice to shoot.

The 5.56 is faster, same diameter and produce a larger wound profile if you use the same bullet. So what does 5.7 offer over 5.56?
Id be afraid to reload it, being such high pressure.

I do the 7.62 tok as well. Wish someone would make a modern hi cap polymer pistol in it.

I already told you.. five-seven is good in specialized situations where 5.56 is not.. It really is not even in the same class as 5.56 and should not be compared to it..
