Hey was wondering what food do you guys feed your arapaimas?
I've been feeding mine goldfish and he absolutely loves them. But i was wondering if goldfish was unhealthy in any way?
I tried feeding him dead fish that i caught on fishing trips or beef liver but he would spit them out.

His in my pond atm , its a 10,000 gallon pond give or take 500 depending on water level. His about 13 inches only and i have him in there with 2 suckers , 1 snakehead (8 inches) , 4 Patins.

a SNAKEHEAD! w00t! but i'm a litle worried with the snakehead being there, but anyways, i don't know much about pimas, but with this THRED, it makes me want to go back to my homecountry, the philippines, and all the fish we have in our ponds... including SNAKEHEADS... no pimas tho... :D

Snakeheads are really cool fish i love their colour when their bigger and the way they eat is amazing when their bigger too. I got mine for 2 bucks from the local fishfarm cos it was being sold as a feeder fish. It was about 5 inches then and now his about 6 or 8 i think. Anyway you said your worried with the snakehead in there , why?

uh oh , his been loving goldfish. How should i change his diet to fresh/frozen fish or dry foods? must it be those type of dry foods that are made with meat?
I tried feeding him fish i caught from the sea but he would spit them out. This is bad!

fillet the fish and try skinless chunks

Ive read that some people starve their pimas to change their diets. Will i have to go to such extents? cos i have small patins in there and i'm afraid he might eat them.

Also, i tried the filleting of fish method but he would spit them out still.
