There are 5 species of aripaima.

Aripaima aripaima
Aripaima gigas
Aripaima agassizii
Aripaima leptosa
Aripaima mapae

the most common is obviously gigas, but leptosa is also kept.

I’ve only ever heard of gigas and have done tons of research on them in the past. Interesting to know there’s multiple species

Indeed...actually I'm almost certain those other species are mentioned in at least one of my old books that I've forgotten about long ago.

I’ve heard about Aripaima leptosa, but not any of those. I just looked at Wikipedia and found out.

I actually don’t have any fish keeping books. Any recommendations for the type of fish I keep? Sorry for stealing your thread shadow

Not my thread, bro, it’s supposed to be an id.

To answer up your question, my guess would be a Aripaima Gigas - the most common species. If you had any other species, that would be awesome!
