Hi,
i am planning to add a pair of arapaima to a 8x4x3 fiber glass tank. current stock are 7 arowanas,a couple of pacus, some sultans, and 1 rtc. would the arapaimas outgrow the tank? would they eat their smaller tank mates? or would it be a bad idea in the first place? my aros are 8inches max.. arapaimas would be about the same size..

TIA

you are going to need a MASSIVE tank for that stock even without the arapaima
that's alot of fish
hmmm... i wouldnt want to let go any of my aros.. i guess i'll have let go of the pacus and sultans.. hmm..:(.. i guess the arapaimas would be a no no then..

I think every fish in that stock will outgrow that tank. you'll honestly need a pond to keep most of those fish at adult size.

i do have a pond, however, i dont how to make it "jump proof".. it is currently a "siberian" pond.. got some tilapias and 4 giant gouramis in it..

hey majinn.. Pics please mate.. i'm sure by the end of the year the rtc will be twice as big as the aros (depends on your feeding) my rtc was 3" last september and he is like 15" now.. i'm scared he might be threat to my aros actually :) One pima is a no.. a couple def a big no for this tank.. jus give it time till you have another pond ready for the 7 aros and then prob a pima :) cheers mate..

:) No i meant for this tank.. It might do well on its own till its about 3ft(i may be totally wrong) with all the tank mates its gonna be way too crowded.. thats all :)

im planning a sump that could possibly manage a 8x4x3. the sump is a 6x3x2 with jap mats, biorings, bioballs and a uv..

You need a swimming pool to raise the arapaimas.....
i guess i'll transfer them to a pond of mine when it hits 4feet?
