Hi!
Would those who are experienced with the Arapaima please tell me:
(1) what would be the best diet for a baby Arapaima that is about 7 inches long?
(2) if there are books on the Arapaima that you would recommend?
Thank you.

hello just saying but not many ppl here have had the large aquarium to aquaint them in...but i have had them twice in a 12,000 gallon tank that had 4" bullitproof glass...as for food for your 7 incher....i had fed mines many market shrimp or prawns which are bigger......very large pelletsand the once a week large feeder and mines learned to eat some crustatean like crayfish.....also try tilapia, small carved catfish without the bones..and also you could try many types of insects like large crickets....some earth worms or super worms....andthing with protein and stuff thats nutritious. And for your last question their arent really much books on only this fish....you can only go to google and type for their info but some of the infos they give are false but about the sizes they all get to 10'-15' long.Good Luck With yours

i have 9 arapaimas and if you dont believe me my video is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeJ8_7mb8UI and are currently over 1meter 20 but for baby arapaima i would suggest lots of live shrimp to help it grow faster and more colorful up until it is 12 inches then start introducing them to live fish but before using live feeders make sure they have no disease. Mine have been here for 5 years and are huge so now i have them in a swimming pool sized pond but otherwise they are very fun to keep.
