I am just curious about why people buy these. Lately I have seen them for sale more and more often. I definately understand wanting to own a rare fish but they get so damn big! It seems kind of a waste of money for something that will outgrow most tanks pretty quickly. What do you do with them when they do outgrow your tank? It just seems like one of those fish that should not be kept privately unless you have a giganitic tank.

This is by no means intended to be a bash I am just curious about these monsters. I would hate to see another monster fish become what the Pacu has become.

it is sort of a ****ty thing. you shouldnt have one unless you're arapaimag or the other guy htat has a massive DIY tank at home. it seems like a harsh thing to do.

yeah i hate when i see fish like that sold at pet store's, i work at one and we stopped carrying fish even way smaller then that a wile ago, its just sad what those fish end up like. unless yeah you have a tank as big as a swimming pool.

The thought of owning something so rare, big, and powerful tend to cloud people's good judgement and sets off the "impulse buy" trigger in people's brain.

How big do they get??

13 FEET OR GREATER.. NOT YOUR BEST CHIOCE.. :D
