well I really don't know how long it can grow... but I had her in a 100 gallon for a month and saved money and got a 180 and put her in there she was with me for like 3 months but didnt notice any size change because she was already pretty hugh. the reason I got rid of her was when I would put food in the tank she would scare the arowanas and eat all the food and kept eating even though her belly was big. and the 14 inch arapaima is no longer with me aquafan2001 has it now.. he is also a member in this board. that 14 incher grew pretty quick too it got like 20 inch 's in a month

OMG....that 14" arapaima really can grow....from 14" to 20" in a month time...thats fast.... ....really very tempted to try one. but confidence level is not on my side....still pondering about it..... :(

well it is kind of wierd because I had the 2 feet one for a while and did;nt notice any growth and when I had the small one I can see him growing bigger and bigger I think the start to grow slower in small tanks I bought the big one for $300 and it was in a 90 gallon tank all crammed in there.

hmmmm...i guess. i should just go for it..... :D

what are your dimensions? if you have a 6ft tank you can have one for while... and sell him when he get bigs... over here its best to do that because I can get some small ones for cheap and raise them and triple your profits.

nah....not really into the profit thingy....arapaima is one fish that i really wanted all the while....worse to worse, just have to house her in a big fibre tub or a pond when she grows bigger. wouldn't want to stunt her growth. btw, my tank is a 6ft by 2 ft by 2ft. not really suitable for arapaima. :(

guess its almost time to upsize my tank....kekeke :D

it will take years and I mean YEARS for it to be that size..... I know of people having them for 5 years and they aren't even bigger than 5 feet yet..... most likely it won't frow that big in a home aquarium...if you have a nice garage you can make a pond like that MIles guy for his rays but make it for you arapaima with those large contrete bricks and pond liner...I will be trying that when I move to a new home.....
