About two weaks ago i added an archer fish to my tank.ther was already another archer fish in the tank but the new one i havent seen eat and is very shy i was wondering if there is anything i could do to help the fish or anything like that.

I would make shure it didnt have a disease and if not add some more caves and rocks to make it feel more comfortable. Also you could try feeding it by holding food up to it with a pair of tongs, and wigling it .

What is the difference in their sizes?

If the 2 are of significantly different size the larger one may bully the smaller one into submission, causing it to be shy and sometimes even reluctant to feed. I've had this a few times.

Regards

Try to get more Archers as they are schooling fish. Also, keep the sizes similar. I have to agree to what Salmon said. If one is too big, it will bully the other and the smaller one won't be able to compete for food. Good luck and hope everything works out with your fish

No teaching necessary, just stick something that they recognize as food within a foot or so of the tank so that it will fall into water if they hit it. Just make sure it is far enough away that they can't just cheat and jump for it. Might take a bit but stand back and they'll do the rest.

.... i have a new question how do you teach them to spit.
'back in the day' when I had archers, I would toss several live insects under the tank hood. when archers see them moving around, they'll spit. 'practice makes perfect', LOL.
I had an open top glass tank. with acrylic, the bugs will have to be stuck between the water and top bracing.
I LOVED watching them. great entertainment.
