I want to turn my archers tank to brackish. Can I just add slightly salty water to the tank during a water change or is it more than that? Please let me know as soon as possible.

You want to dilute your marine salt into another bucket.

Basically you're trying to raise the salinity no more than .002 per week.

Any more and you could shock your fish.

I do suggest doing it during the water change, but get some marine salt, and follow the directions.

I have toxotes chatareus it's brackish. So I don't have to drain the tank and recycle it as brackish, I read that somewhere today and thought that it did not sound right.

?

No not at all, introducing some salt during your water changes is fine. Just remember to slowly raise the salinity. Putting too much salt per week can shock your fish.

Alright thanks for the help I'll let you all know how it goes :)

If you add too much salt too fast you will kill all the good bacteria in your filter. Then you will cause a mini cycle. Do you have a hydrometer? You will need one.

Yeah I have one and I am planning on adding the salt very slowly.
