Archer fish with polys?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only freshwater archer fish are toxotes blythii which gets to around 7” if I remember correctly and toxotoes microlepsis which gets to 5” if I remember correctly.

I don’t see a reason as to why adult polys could not work with archer fish, perhaps some issues could arise with juvenile Senegal’s that like to rest at the top, but other than that I don’t see any issues. I should mention that I haven’t kept the two species together before though so what I say is purely speculation.

Hello this is just an idea I had has anyone kept archers with bichirs I have my 75g tank with two baby dels and was looking for tank mates what full fresh species could work?

Thanks!!

You could only probably do the Clouded Archer Toxotes Blythii which is a freshwater specie.

Size wise the tank isn’t over stocked, bioload wise it’s likely not over stocked either. Personally I’d go with microlepsis just because they stay a bit smaller and they don’t look a lot different.

Yes, toxotes blythii and toxotes microlepsis are the only known freshwater archer fish known at the moment of writing this post.
