i know this isent the place for this post but idk where the archer fish would be at but what would a good set up be for them in a 55 half water or what

I kept my archers in a 60g that was about 75% full with no problem. I used to put some frozen bloodworms on a stick and put it across the top of the tank to watch them shoot it down. They're awesome fish and a lot of fun to watch.

now i know there brackish fish but my friends had them in his fresh water tank for the past 3 years so idk but also what kind of filter should i use he has a hang on some ppl say dont do that but idk

Hang on back filter should be fine. It's like any other tank you have, the filter flow rate should be at least 6 times the volume of the tank. So if you have a 55 gallon tank, your filter(s) should have a flow rate of at least 330 gallons per hour. 6x is probably the lowest you should go, some people recommend much higher.

You should add some marine salt to the water as they get bigger. They should be kept with other brackish fish like monos and puffers after they get to be about 3-4 inches. Smaller than that, they can be kept in fresh water.

i wouldnt put puffers in with an archer. unless youre talking about a fig.8 puffer, in which case that may work...
