The 'salt' in brackish setups for archers is derived from sodium chloride. The 'salt' in mbuna setups is derived from calcium chloride. You can possibly get them to survive together but, they won't flourish as they would in regional-specific water chemistries.

idk i'm giving someone a Puffer and I'm getting an archer fish in return. i was told that it would do fine in either salt or freshwater. it's in full salt water right now

if its in full salt right now, switching it over abruptly would be a bad idea. i suppose you could try to acclimate it slowly, but could still kill the fish

idk i barely started researching cichlids and have no idea about archer's requirements, that's why i posted this.
