These are the first cichlids I've kept in a while. I was into piranhas for the last year or so. I got these from a member here (dogofwar). I just added a pot, some driftwood, and some java moss to the tank. The female is in breeding dress, dark as a xmas tree, she's leaking eggs out of her tube, and they're cleaning off a spot. I just got them yesterday! Along with the green fliers I got some goodeid (sp?) livebearers, I don't know the species, and today I picked up some orange dotted platies. These guys are already much more interesting than my piranha was. I guess I'll have some fry pretty soon!:headbang2

Very nice! I just lost my flier a couple of years ago, I really liked that fish. He was a tough son of a gun.

well I checked on them this morning. The female doesn't look like she's gonna pop, the egg opening is still visible, she's still in breeding color. The male never really got into breeding color and they appear to still be courting. They're not guarding anything. You think she laid and they ate em?

If she's plump still they didn't breed yet - they will :)

They look happy!

I've got two more pairs from the same batch... P/

thanks again Matt. I couldn't be more thrilled.

I do have one question for you though. When you are trying to condition them to get it on, I've read that you want to feed a protein rich (some say "live") diet for a while. What should I feed them. I got some spectrum pellets, and some flakes for the livebearers, they look too big for brine shrimp, what about bloodworms?
