I bought these archocentrus centrarchus on 9-23-2008 at a local fish auction. Nobody knew what they were including myself but I recognized the genus as american and bid on it and won 6 of them for $2.

they were in a community setting until today but I just moved them all into this 29gallon for now until they pair off. The biggest one is about 5.5". Hopefully I can get them breeding they are a really neat fish.

about 12 hours since I moved them and I already have a female in breeding dress :headbang2

hopefully they will be my 3rd fish to successfully breed in this water I just moved here about 2 months ago.

wow they are some real stunners. good luck with the breeding

forgot to point out that I lost 1 of the 6 at random a few months ago. I was always surprised with how hardy these fish were. It's rare you get 6 fish at a auction and every single one lives to full size but I came close with these guys.
