I have 2 massive 14+ dats. fat f*ckers!
there is a Royal knife(10 inch) and a synodontis angelicus(8 inch) in with it
i found the RCK today on its side, with its stomach seemingly caved in.
I didnt see any scratch wounds or bite wounds.
All i saw is that the dats wre seemignly curious, kinda nudging the RCK whiles its on the floor lying down. wasnt biting, but i could never tell if it DID bite but no marks. I thint he RCK is gonna die soon:( but i dont know, i had another CK die recently, same symptons but diferent tanks. its stomach was concave and it seemed that it was sucking its stomach in.

Are dats known to be aggressive, at this size?
cos i have a GG and a SILVER ARO on the way to be its tank mates.
I generally am told that Dats CAN be aggresive to its own kind but not other fish.

any feedback?

Correction
on one side, there seems to be half inch scrathches. maybe 2 or 3
still doesnt seem consistent with the mouth of a massive dat
.... but i dont know
i never saw it attach the knife fish or even give chase

sounds about right.. dats don't bite as much as they "headbutt".. I had mine beat a pretty though cichlid to death, guess real bad internal damage since it couldn't swim straight and small scratches all over.. and yes, they are bastards.

pffft bastards, they are cool my 6" AT takes on 2 Pbass which are bigger then him and my Pbass Bite.

but I agree they could be the one responsible...

Hahaha.. yep, I didn't say that was a bad thing now did I..? =) love them!

ok, well knife fishes dont seem to be the most robust things ever
do you think then a GG and a SILVER ARO will be head butted?
do you think i should put some oscars or something to even out the aggression.?

i want these dats to be with other monsters
do you think i should re introduce the jardinii into the tank with them?
perhaps now the dats see the tank as dats country, the jardinii (13") is the newbie, maybe the jar will be kept subdued and the two dats will be peaceful with the,m?

i think it may work but its another hit and miss trail with your jardini...it could even the aggression with everyone or it could just kill them all in a flash... :WHOA: yup a oscar isn't really going to do much at all but eat and poop alot in your tank plus they sometimes slouch on the bottom on your sides abit :nilly: but you can try it if you think it may be worth the try ;)
