coralife 10,000k acitanic have one laying around stuck it on the cat tank looks good nice dim light fish love it! my question is it ok to use it will it do any damage such as algae or anything else and will the plants grow in the spectrum really dont now much about them so anything would be appreciated

Actinic lighting will not harm your fish, it will sometimes cause an algae growth though. Freshwater plants typically don't do well under actinic lighting, it's the wrong spectrum for them.

10,000 K bulbs aren't actinic. Actinic is usually around 7100K, and it's VERY blue. 10,000K bulbs are usually kind of a whiteish blueish color. looks really nice. And 10000K's can be used on a plant tank, just not as the main source of light. The light isn't yellow enough.

just checked the actinic dosnt have a kelvin rating on it the white light next to it is a 10,000k lol when i looked the first time i had left the lights on This isnt good info for me though just tossed an old bulb on my main planted tank stuck a 10,000k white on it can I use a halgen to pick up the yellow spectrum or should I just grab another strip light ?
