Are all activated Carbons created equal?

Any who has been to a general pet store, or LFS has likely found several brands of carbon and various claims made by each regarding the shape of the pieces, and pore quantity(s) of the product. Considering the significant price difference between some of these products.....is one actually better than another? And if so what makes it better?

Please don't respond with comments asking why one would want to use carbon/claims of its uselessness. Im not advocating anything for others, but I have chosen to use it.

I think seachem matrix carbon is the best one out because ime it lasts a lot longer the other carbon products on the market.

My favorite is PÛRA carbon, made by magnavore. Has lowest ash content on the market + plus last for a solid period of time
