ok so i know that bettas and gouramis breath atmospheric air, but do all anabantids? i mean to be an anabantid they have to have a labyrinth organ, so does this meant they all breath surface air? in particular one like kissing gouramis and ctenopoma? thnx:confused:

no one knows? i found out that snakehead are airbreathers, bettas, gouramis, but cant find anything on the others

Sounds like a question for Oddball. :D

Anabantids - they have the ability to breathe atmospheric oxygen - that is precisely what their name means. If they are classified in that family.

ok thnx. so they would all be fine with no airpump? if so then i am officially getting rid of the airpump for the betta;)

^really, then i didnt need to get it in the first place

right-o. and keep in mind that many gourami species live in stagnant, poor excuses for ponds in the wild.
