Hi all, I got a bunch trying to form a breeding pair, but per online guidance all mine seem to be females as in pale bodies and no sprinkles extended to tail fin?

Try to get some closeups of the fish. That zoomed out is hard with the cichlids that have more subtle difference.
The pale colors could just be them being young and trying to blend into their surroundings. Most cichlids will show pale on whiter substrate.

Just curious why you posted Jewels in the Central/ South American section?
They are African riverine species, and you might get more experienced and educated replies from aquarists that frequent the section there
I just got 6 red jewels and a pair formed within 2 days and had a clutch of fry within a week i think they breed more then convicts.

sometimes they do color up like during feeding, or the night light mode, but not the pattern I saw from males on internet

this is nice. yeah I got them mostly because I heard they are easy to breed. mines have shown no signal of forming a pair for over a month, thus I doubted they are all females
