What about commercial breeding on farms?ShadowStryder;2565292; said:People have bred Sax's and Dwarfs, but I have only heard of two instances of
Lugubris being bred. Tapajos Marms by Wayne Leibel and the Xingu 1 on one
occasion. But it is quite possible that some other instances have occured,
I don't keep up with it like a lot of peeps do.
Crenicichla sp. "Xingu I" always comes in as batches of about 10, and all of them are always more or less the same size. Surely they can't be wild-caught?fishfarm;2566107; said:Most are wild caught unless you buy from someone who says he bred them himself, I have bred several species and I know others have also, but if you buy any species that grows large, 99% of the time it is wild caught. FYI Ian Tapp was the one who bred Xingu I, he was 16 when he did this! Ken

I get them in wild from Brazil 300 at a time, all the same size, they catch entire spawns, thus they are all about the same size, Think about how many eggs a 12-14" pike lays! To my knowlegde Ian is the only person to ever breed Xingu I and he did it about 8 years ago. There is no comemmrcial productions of pikes, just a few dedicated hobbyist who mange to occationally bred them. KenHerCrenVie;2566233; said:Crenicichla sp.
