The freshwater eel in British rivers that you catch when fishing is a very slimy creature. You will be covered in this sticky gunk after you (try to) handle one, which makes them an unpopular catch for some anglers.

Are any of the eels kept in aquariums slimy to the touch?

All fish have a slime coating on them. Some more then others. A healthy fish has a slime coating to protect against parasites and disease.

what he said.. but yes tbh i'm not sure if spiney eels are scaless or not ( they are failry delicate so I do treat them like scaless fish).. but they are very soft and do not have the hard scales that most people associate to fish. I avoid handleing my fish with my hands in general. But they do slip and slide just fine!

Ok thanks. Nothing has slime like when you catch an eel over here though. The bream has a fair bit but the eel oozes the stuff.

ya most eels arent that slimy but they feel slimy with soft bodies and smooth skin, they definately have some slime but i know what you are talking and it isnt like that(luckily)
