like the topic says, i need to know if my black arows can be good teacher fishes for my armatus to accept non-live..

if not, what is? thanks!

The armatus will take non live when it wants to. The aro may help him to get non live food, but it's not a guarantee thing.

I used semi frozen shrimp or krill, it doens't sink right away and it gets them interested.

Also, try to throw the food over the tank rather than just dropping it in. Most fish are trained to look up for food.
It won't happen the firts time. If they go after it then turn away, you're on the right track. it takes persistence to get it done.

They'll start to go after it then back off, then they start to swallow it then spit it back out and evnetually they'll take it every single time. I have mine eating pellets already.

Dither will help, but armatus aren't like most fish...they're stubborn in their own way.

Odoes worked great in my case.

My dominant Armatus is allready taking smelt and he just had feeders 3 days ago. Odoes have been pounding down smelt and shrimp right in front of them for about a week and a half. The Aro began taking smelt last weekend. Armatus have been charging the whole time but the mean one just took his first piece last night. 1 down 4 to go.

my armatus is in the big arowana community tank now. he's already charging or getting interested in beef heart, shrimp, and fish fillets..

im just in my 2nd day of starving him and he is really hungry now! i think by tomorrow he'll eat shrimp.

the arows and dats got him interested in non live.. hehehe!
