Want to get an FRT for my tank but I have a lot of green artificial plants and driftwood, my attempt at an amazon setup but I screwed myself when I picked out the gravel. Problem is with the omnivore like an FRT mostly eating plants is he going to try and eat the fake plants and kill himself. Should I not risk at and not get the FRT. Want one real bad but don't want ot take a hit on the $500 and lost a rare species like this. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks Mike

btt. Any1 or should I have posted in reptiles?

if you can drop the $500 on a turtle spend a little more and put some plants in there on a regular basis and let it eat them

and no the plastic plants should not be a problem it might bite them but not eat them

I got a bunch of plastic stuff in with mine, and he never chews them.

it will be fine... it will try to eat the plants sometimes.. but should be able to get a peice off

For the most part, all artificial plants are safe to put in the aquarium/terrarium, so long as they arent from the crafts section from a department store, some of the silk plants found in places like walmart and such are dusted with chemicals to make them more lifelike or to repel dust, these chemicals would be toxic, but not the ones from pet shops.

I am agreed with xanderrowe . I have mine with fake plant and driftwood.

anyone share pics of the artificial plants? planing to put some too

Now that you have the lowdown on plastic plants, you can change that amazon theme to a setup more natural to FRTs. They will not do well in soft acidic water (like the Amazon). FRTs will do better in alkaline and light brackish water. The rivers they come from have limestone baserock and they tend to concentrate in the lower parts of rivers where there's some increase in salinity.
