Just seen some of these guys. I have plenty of experiance with MTS(Malaysian Trumpet snails) and the fact they do a great job. However, not much experiance with Assassins. Do they bother live plants? Do they work the gravel as well as MTS? I have an option for either or, but I think their black color would look better with my gravel. Also, do they stay under the gravel as much as the MTS as this guy claims? Thanks for any info you gusy can provide.;)

Not really. Assassins are mainly interested in eating other snails.

^ agree, the name is kinda a giveaway

They are only interested in assasinating other snails

I have MTS snails and they breed like crazy.

Not sure about gravel but mine do a good job on left over food and spend the rest of their time under the sand.

It's the only tankmates I can have with my Jag.

Looks like I am going to go with MTS again. Need to oxyginate my gravel and get any left over food. I have read they scavange, but by the sounds of it they breed slow and don't stay in gravel to long. They won't stand a chance against my clown loaches.

MTS breed like mice... I actually picked up some assassin snails recently because I couldn't keep the MTS under control. they do a great job of areating my tank. BUt the assassins balance it. I've found CL's to only eat MTS if they are very hungry. the nasty shell of theirs is a pita for most fish to work around.
