Are black tips illegal in cali?

Well i didnt think black tips were illegal but i saw a tv show called wild justice and the dfg wardens confiscated a black tip from a lfs in norcal. I double checked the illegal exotic fish list on mfk but i cudnt find that it was illegal. So are they?

Wow, I think this is the first time someone has linked one of my threads to answer a question. At least I'm not wasting bytes on this site.

All sharks in the genus Carcharhinus are illegal in California, although I don't know if there is some sort of permit you can get for them.

Man, that really puts a damper on my life long dream of moving out to cali and setting up a GWS tank. :grinno:
 
The permit is relatively easy to get if you have the contacts and the money. But yes, you need the permit.

Unfortunately, I am friendless. So I guess there goes any hope I ever had of a large Blacktip reef/ Whitetip reef display.
