I've heard bloodworms are worthless, yet I know many folks feed them to fish. I fed my male grammode a whole cube today and it is the only time I've seen his belly full. I always soak the bloodworms in Kent Zoe freshwater prior to feeding. He may get a cube once or twice a week. He gets Hikari Sinking Carnivore and NLS Large Fish pellets daily (but only like a pellet of each a day as he eats very little). Those bloodworms he eats with a vengeance.

I have fed frozen bloodworms with lots of sucess. They have decent protein and I have never had a fish turn them down.

Freeze-dried bloodworms are a waste IMO, so the people who say bloodworms are worthless are most likely talking about Freeze-dried.

frozen blood worms i find phenominal i mean honestly ive always had fish that only eat live foods but honestly i find blood worms to be my new food favorite all my fish eat them and it seems to bring out lots of color in them so i find them to be the best food if ur tryin to turn ur carnivores into non live eatin foods bloodworms are ur best bet plus everything eats them

I like the way fish eat bloodworms. I just wish I knew it was a good growth food (and it should be cuz of the protein) and just plain good nutritionally.

its like crack to some fish. and is great for growing them up quick as its a lot of protein.

IME bloodworms are not good for quick growth, in fact I think they're worthless and I've completely removed them from my fish's diets. I may be the only one with this opinion of them but I'm sticking to it.

But why? and what did you substitute? I only feed bloodworms to small predators that I'm trying to grow out. Then when they get bigger, I switch them off. I've had a lot of success with many different breeds this way, but I'm interested to learn what you use.

See. I want some clarification on the bloodworm thing. It ain't worth buying and keeping those frozen cubes if I ain't getting no benefit from them.

I use frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp (live or frozen) to feed my discus, and pellets like sera discus granulat.
They really love them, and keeping variety of this diet they don't seen to get enough.
The discus even start to eat from my hands.
