The O.C.
I have read that their temperment is similar to snakeheads, but are they jumpers like snakeheads?

Thansk in advance for replies.

ANY fish can jump. That's the safest avenue to take. Any fish can become spooked and in it's mad dash to safety it can (and usually does) find the missed opening and go airborne.

mine has jumped out twice in the last month so i am currently building it a pond.
i think it jumped because i spooked it and the tank is a little small.

I have never seen a wild one jump even if hooked but in a tank any spooked fish can jump.

When spooked, the only place they have to go is up.

i read an article a year or so ago that said that a bowfin jumped out of the water at a photographer trying to get a look at its fry

I can believe that, they are nest guarders.

Thats awesome. I would love to see that!

Yeah, bowfin can be very spooky. All of the bowfin I have kept over the years had the ability to thrash about and jump for freedom. Most of the time, the bowfin would bounce around the tank pretty quickly. I have only had one bowfin (about 18") totally jump out of its tank, smash off the wall, bounce off the desk and fall to the floor. That was a little crazy. I was just trying to clean the tank and then found myself wrestling a bowfin on the floor.
